Virtual Try-On for Cosmetics

Real-time face tracking and AI skin segmentation power realistic foundation and lipstick previews — live today.

Beauty commerce meets on-device AI

Cosmetics brands use virtual try-on to increase trial rates, social sharing, and conversion on product detail pages — shoppers who can preview a shade on their own face are more confident buying a color they've never physically tested.

Two beauty modules are live on Tryonixs today: lipstick (production) and foundation (beta). Both use MediaPipe face-landmark tracking; foundation additionally uses an open-source AI face-parsing model (BiSeNet) to segment skin from eyes, lips, hair, and background so shade blends only onto skin and preserves natural texture.

Foundation vs. lipstick modules

  • Foundation (beta)
  • Lipstick (production)

Foundation: select-shade → detect-face → parse-skin (AI segmentation) → apply-shade → preserve-texture → render. This pixel-level skin segmentation is what separates AI-powered shade matching from a simple color overlay.

Lipstick: upload → extract-color (from your product photo) → detect-lips → generate-mask → blend → render. Shade color is extracted directly from your product image, so new shades work without manual color configuration.

Shade matching technology

Because face parsing runs per-frame on-device, foundation shade preview adapts as lighting and head angle change, rather than applying a flat color overlay that ignores skin tone variation across the face.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for all skin tones?

The face-parsing model segments skin regions regardless of tone, and shade rendering is driven by your product's actual color data — but like any AI vision model, accuracy can vary with lighting and camera quality, and we recommend testing your specific shade range before full rollout.

How accurate is foundation vs. lipstick try-on?

Lipstick (production) is the more mature module. Foundation is in beta — the AI skin-segmentation pipeline is functional and live on collection pages, but shade realism continues to improve as we tune texture-preservation blending.

Is face data stored or uploaded for beauty try-on?

No. Both the face-landmark tracking and the AI skin-parsing model run entirely in the shopper's browser. No camera frame is uploaded to Tryonixs servers for processing.

Can I add this to my Shopify beauty store?

Yes — foundation and lipstick try-on use the same SDK and Shopify Liquid snippets as eyewear. See our Shopify integration guide for setup steps.

What does it cost?

Beauty try-on is included in every plan, including the free Starter tier (15 products, unlimited sessions) — there's no separate charge for foundation or lipstick modules.
